The purpose of the Red-Eyed Tree frog's red eyes is anyone's guess. Some scientists have postulated that the shocking color might give predators pause. The frogs live in the rainforests spanning from southern Mexico through Central America to the northern part of South America.

History: The Red-Eyed Tree Frog is often seen as a symbol of conservation, particularly rainforest conservation in Central America. Although the species isn't endangered, its rainforest certainly is. Central American rainforests diminished in the latter part of the twentieth century, going from 60% coverage to around 40% coverage.

Scientific Name: Agalychnis callidryas.

Characteristics: These tiny frogs look ready to hop. They'll certainly stick around for a rainforest school project or party, or they make fine giveaways or decorations for an Earth Day event.

Size: These sleek and shiny Red-Eyed Tree Frogs look incredibly realistic, despite only being about the size of a quarter. Each piece is about 1" long.
